Frequently Asked Questions

Are your fragrances authentic?

Yes. Every fragrance we sell is the genuine designer or niche product, supplied in its original manufacturer packaging. We do not sell imitations, “inspired by” versions or refilled bottles.

What’s the difference between EDT, EDP and Parfum?

These describe how concentrated the fragrance oil is, which affects how strong it smells and how long it lasts:

  • Eau de Cologne (EDC) — the lightest, typically 2–5% oil. Fresh and short-lived, usually 2–3 hours.
  • Eau de Toilette (EDT) — around 5–15%. Lighter and brighter, usually 3–5 hours. Good for daytime and hot weather.
  • Eau de Parfum (EDP) — around 15–20%. Richer and longer-lasting, usually 5–8 hours. The most common choice.
  • Parfum / Extrait — 20–30% or more. The richest and longest-wearing, and usually the most expensive.

A higher concentration isn’t automatically “better” — it’s a different experience. An EDT of a fragrance you love may suit summer far better than its parfum.

What do “top, heart and base notes” mean?

A fragrance unfolds over time. Top notes are what you smell in the first few minutes — usually citrus or fresh notes that fade quickly. Heart notes emerge after 15–30 minutes and form the main character. Base notes are the heaviest ingredients, and they’re what remains on your skin hours later. This is why a fragrance smells different an hour after spraying than it did in the shop.

Why does the same fragrance smell different on me than on someone else?

Skin chemistry, body temperature, skin dryness and even diet all affect how a fragrance develops. This is normal, and it’s why we always suggest trying a fragrance on your own skin where possible rather than on a paper strip.

How should I apply fragrance so it lasts?

  • Apply to clean, moisturised skin — dry skin holds scent poorly
  • Spray on pulse points: wrists, neck, inner elbows
  • Don’t rub your wrists together, as it crushes the top notes
  • Spray onto skin rather than clothing where you can, though fabric does hold scent longer

How should I store my fragrance?

Keep bottles away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity — a bedroom drawer or cupboard is far better than a bathroom shelf or a sunny windowsill. Heat and light break down fragrance oils and will change how a scent smells over time. Keep the original box; it’s genuinely the best protection.

Do fragrances expire?

Unopened and stored properly, most fragrances keep well for years. Once opened, expect around 3–5 years before a noticeable change. Citrus-led fragrances tend to turn sooner than heavy amber or woody ones.

What is a “tester”?

A tester contains the identical fragrance to the retail version, but comes in plain packaging intended for shop counters, and often without the decorative cap. They are genuine products. Where we list a tester, it is clearly labelled as such.
